Briefly: Another late-in-the-game release shift.
Universal has announced they're moving the release of Tom Hooper's highly anticipated adaptation of the musical Les Misérables just a few weeks.
Originally set to open on December 14th, the same day as The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, they will now release the flick on Christmas Day, December 25th.
Les Mis is supposed to be a strong late Oscar contender, but Anne Thompson says this "could have an impact on the awards race" if the flick is not ready to screen early.
However, this just seems like strategy in placement, instead of going up against The Hobbit.
Les Mis stars Hugh Jackman, Anne Hathaway, Amanda Seyfried, Eddie Redmayne and Russell Crowe.
