There’s been lots of conjecture over this new “Psycho” TV prequel series called “Bates Motel,” mostly along the lines of “Just how bad of an idea will this turn out to be?” But it looks like the joke might be on us – the new trailer and behind-the-scenes video (below) that just popped up has got my imagination flowing and my curiosity piqued.
It doesn’t hurt that Freddie Highmore (perfectly cast as Norman) manages to strike a disarming balance between vulnerable innocence and brooding angst.

The 1995 flick “Waterworld” was one of the biggest financial flops of all time — so why does Syfy want to remake it? Apparently TV airings of the flick have drawn a lot of viewers, probably attracted by the movie’s terrible reputation (unless maybe they’re all just huge Tina Majorino fans).
It sounds like the remake will aim squarely for deliberate B-movie territory like “Sharktopus,” which this flick company also produced.
The answer to yesterday’s riddle of the mysterious Indiana Jones package is stranger than you probably anticipated.
It turns out that the package itself was an actual prop from an “Indiana Jones” movie, which fell out of a larger package that was being delivered somewhere else.
That explains the fake postage! The University has been invited to keep the now-famous prop to display on campus, further blurring the line between fiction and reality.
If your heart is feeling a few sizes too small, perhaps the rapper Big Boi can limber it up for you with his reading of How the Grinch Stole Christmas – and yes, there is a bit of actual rapping involved! For at least eight minutes of your day, you will be unable to hold a frown.
