Bootleggers, crooks, and gangsters, oh my! The first trailer for Lawless promises a whole lot of action and big name stars in the Depression-era flick premiering at Cannes next month.

You can get your first look at what appears to be a lot of face-punching, machine-gun toting, Fedora hat-wearing mayhem courtesy of an all-star cast.

The A-list cast features Tom Hardy and Shia LaBeouf as the enterprising Bondurant brothers, shilling their moonshine and going toe-to-toe with big screen heavyweight Gary Oldman.

The mostly true story is adapted from the novel The Wettest Country by Matt Bondurant.

The name of the bootlegging brothers is no coincidence- the author was inspired by his grandfather and great uncles and their moonshine business in Virginia in the 1920s and 1930s.

Joining the cast and looking quite menacing in the trailer is big city boy Guy Pearce, brought in from Chicago to reign in the lawless Virginia folks.

But it’s not just the men behaving badly.

Jessica Chastain isn’t content to sit on the sidelines as she joins the moonshine-makers in business.

Rounding out the cast is Mia Wasikowska, Jason Clarke and Noah Taylor.
