OK—The Avengers 2 officially has a writer/director (Joss Whedon is coming back), and even an official release date, so it’s now time begin our official three-year campaign of baseless speculation and irresponsible rumor-mongering concerning the making of the highly anticipated sequel. First up: Vin Diesel may star as the Avenger known as Vision. Let that one sink in for a second.
As you may or may not know, and as Cinema Blend kindly informs us, Vision is a “solar powered android” known as a synthezoid. Said synthezoid Vision was created by the robot baddie Ultron to kill Henry Pym (otherwise known as Ant-Man, who is getting his own Marvel flick adaptation courtesy of Edgar Wright), but eventually changes sides and joins the Avengers.
So why the speculation that Vin Diesel would bring his hulking, blank-faced monotony to The Avengers 2? Get this, you guts: Vin Diesel changed his Facebook profile photo to a picture of Vision. GASP!!! OMG!!! So he’s totally Vision now, right?
While it likely means nothing at all, Diesel is known for using his Twitter and Facebook social media platforms to leak information about his upcoming projects to fans, so it is entirely possible that he may be cast as the synthezoid. Also, seeing as how Vision has appeared in both Guardians of the Galaxy and Ant-Man comics, he could become a crossover character that helps to bind this ever-expanding universe of Marvel films. Only time, and ceaseless, desperate fan speculation will tell.
What do you think of The Avengers 2 rumor?
