Now that a third Hobbit flick has officially been announced, we can take a look at some possible titles for it.
As you know, the first two flicks are titled The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey and The Hobbit: There and Back Again.
Now thanks to fusible, several new domain names that were privately registered through MarkMonitor by The Saul Zaentz Company have been revealed.
The domain names give us two possible titlechoices...
The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug or The Hobbit: Riddles in the Dark, both of which sound great!
Riddles In The Dark happens to be one of the titles of the chapters of The Hobbit.
The Desolation of the Smaug refers to "the blackened and lifeless region that lay around the Lonely Mountain, created by the Dragon Smaug after his capture of the Dwarf-city there.
Smaug had spread fire and destruction around the mountain, and no living thing grew within the Desolation." It was eventually rebuilt by dwarves and men.
Here’s a look at the full list of domain names registered through MarkMonitor, who is the same registrar responsible for managing the domains for TheHobbitAnUnexpectedJourney.com and TheHobbitThereandBackagain.com.
I think The Desolation of the Smaug sounds like the most likely title as it is one of those stories that can be used to fill the gaps in the story Jackson wants to tell.
Of course, these titles could end up being used for something else.
