Raging Bull 2 has been in the news ever since the prequel/sequel was announced almost a year ago.
Things got serious when people realized actors were being cast, a budget was being set and this thing was actually happening. The flick is currently in production and now MGM, the company who owns the rights to the first Raging Bull directed by Martin Scorsese, is looking to not only halt production but also seek punitive damages "in an amount sufficient to punish the Raging Bull 2 defendants and to deter those who would commit of knowingly seek to profit from similar actions, now or in the future." In other words, they don't want anyone making another Raging Bull movie.
Ever. According to the studio, MGM has the right to first refusal for any sequels.
