Hope Springs has released a first trailer, in which Meryl Streep decides there's more to middle-age than recipes, knitting and worrying about your children… there's sex as well.
She and Tommy Lee Jones play a couple of advancing years who enlist therapist Steve Carell to reinvigorate their struggling marriage during a weekend getaway to Maine.
Naturally, the cranky, craggy-faced Jones is less than thrilled by the prospect of a younger man instructing him on when to hold his wife's hand, but in the interests of a quiet life, he gives it a go.

Take the sickly "ain't life grand" soundtrack out of the equation, and this could be one of the more interesting rom-coms to spring out of Hollywood in recent years.
It also makes for a refreshing change to see the spotlight fall on an older relationship, without one half of the equation being a Jack Nicholson-style lothario.
Directed by Streep's The Devil Wears Prada collaborator David Frankel, Hope Springs will open in the UK on 4 January 2013.
