THR reports that Chris McCoy has been tapped to rewrite the screenplay for Marvel's the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy movie. The scribe, who’s had three screenplays featured on Hollywood’s Black List (which highlights the best unproduced screenplays of the year), will rework Nicole Perlman’s draft of the script.

It’s his first major credit, but McCoy has generated a lot of buzz for his previous efforts and their, “quirky comedic tone.” We’re not sure how that will fit in with Guardians exactly, but early response has people envisioning a flick with a tone similar to Iron Man.
