Behind the Candelabra takes its name from the 1988 tell-all from Liberace's former lover, Scott Thorson.
The 18-year-old confidant to the famed pianist started a relationship with Liberace in 1977, which lasted until 1982.
After he was let go from his job as chauffeur, he sued the musician for $113 million in palimony causing a public scandal for Liberace who repeatedly denied he was homosexual.
They later settled out of court with Thorson receiving $95,000.
Michael Douglas plays the flamboyant figure in the upcoming HBO flick directed by Steven Soderbergh, with Matt Damon as the much younger Thorson.
