Good Kids Beat Bad Dads: In its second weekend of release, the animated family flick Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted ($35.5 million) easily defeated the 80s karaoke musical Rock of Ages ($15.6 million) and Adam Sandler’s R-rated raunchy comedy, That’s My Boy ($13 million), which both flopped at the box office.
Prometheus ($20.2 million) also fared better than either of the disappointing debuting features, though higher-than-expected drop (60%) for Ridley Scott’s flick may indicate a shorter run in theatres than originally hoped.
[Box Office Mojo] Everyone Loves Animals: Overseas, Madagascar 3 also held onto its box office leadership, opening in 15 additional territories and earning an estimated $53 million.
