Imagine if the Boogieman was real and not only that, but fabled creatures like the Tooth Fairy, Sandman, Jack Frost, Easter Bunny and - spoiler alert - Santa Claus joined forces to protect the dreams, hopes and imaginations of the world's children? That fantastical premise comes to life in the upcoming animated flick Rise of the Guardians, where mythic forces plot to stop Pitch, who has his sights set on an evil ploy to dominate the world and must be stopped.

Paramount has released a handful of character posters that show us new versions of the typically soft-and-cuddly mythic beings we've come to know and love and one look at Santa's inked arms and it's clear the filmmakers behind this one, working from a book by William Joyce, have added a level of mystery and maturity to the fantasy.
