Christopher Nolan’s Batman sequel The Dark Knight Rises continued to reign over the box office in its second weekend.
The third and final flick in Nolan’s trilogy raked in an estimated $64 million, pushing its overall cume to $289M domestically.
With Rises devouring most of the business (and the start of the Summer Olympics keeping many audience members at home), the weekend’s two new releases – The Watch and Step Up Revolution – failed to draw significant crowds.
Both flicks were trumped by the fourth Ice Age, which pulled in an estimated $13.3M to hold on to the No. 2 spot in the box office top 10 for a second consecutive weekend.
